Kazi Jestribek Echoes to Bugles: Stories of Colorado Mammals examines the natural history of 24 mammals treated as 12 pairs of two very different but very connected animals. Each month features a different pair and presents both the details of their separate lives as individuals and of their inseparable lives as predator and prey. This month, we look at how miniature versions of things often impress us as cute. At maybe two-thirds the size of a Red Fox, the Swift Fox is just too cute! Appearance or behavior can also impress us as cute. Whereas a Norway Rat is homely, a kangaroo-rat is just too cute. But where the Swift Foxes and kangaroo-rats live together, cuteness matters not at all.Date and Time
