Porter) This short silent film tells the story of a daring train robbery in the Old West and the posse that pursues the bad guys. Even today, Porter’s movie is a lot of fun. It was also a break-through in film technique as the first movie to use cross-cutting. This lets us see what is happening at the same time in two different places, something we take for granted today. The famous closing shot of a desperado pointing his pistol at the camera (alas, something else we take for granted today) is purely gratuitous and has nothing to do with the storyline. Nonetheless, in 1903 it caused quite a stir.Date and Time

Description
"High Noon" (85 min., Rated PG, 1952, Fred Zinnemann) Who wouldn’t rather go away to be with Grace Kelly instead of sticking around to fight a gunslinger at high noon? But Sheriff Will Kane, one of Gary Cooper’s most celebrated roles, decides his duty is first to his community and then to his bride. It would help if the townsfolk supported him, but they leave the sheriff on his own to face fearsome Frank Miller, who is literally gunning for him. As the twelve o’clock destiny with death approaches, Director Zinnemann uses a rapid succession of shots to record the anxious minutes ticking toward noon. It’s one of Hollywood’s tautest scenes. Unlike Sheriff Kane, you won’t be checking the clock while watching this movie.
