Amazing Duck Race

I hope you are doing well. My name is Javier Lomeli, and I am a Junior at the University of Northern Colorado. I am the vice president of Lambda Sigma Upsilon Latino Fraternity, Incorporated. We are hosting our annual Amazing Duck Race and Kid's Fest which will raise money to support the sports program scholarship fund with the City of Greeley for underprivileged children to play sports at the Greeley Recreational Center. In 2022, we fundraised over $2,250 for the fund (please see attached letter). An important reason for the event is that the US is experiencing a mental health crisis and children are committing suicide more than ever. There are several factors for this, but sociality is a significant cause. The ability to interact with others is incredibly important. So, this is another reason why we are trying to raise funds for the sports program so that kids have more access to creating friendships and interacting with other children. Finances should not be the biggest reason why a child cannot participate.
